Jacques Bourgeois of Nova Scotia, Canada

Jacques Bourgeois was christened on 21 January 1620 (or 1621) at La Ferté-Gaucher, Seine-et-Marne, France, being the son of Marguerite Bourgeois, who was the widow of Nicolas Grandjehan; he used his mother’s maiden name, perhaps a sign that he was her natural son. He immigrated to North America in 1641 or 1642, settling in the French colony of New France at Acadie or Acadia (later Nova Scotia, Canada, from 1713). He married Jeanne Trahan about 1644 at Port Royal, Acadie (later Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia). He worked as a surgeon. He died there about 1701, having had three sons:

Charles Bourgeois Sr. was born about 1646 at Port Royal, Acadie, New France (now Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada). He married Anne du Gast (or Dugas) about 1670 at Port Royal, Acadie. He died at Beaubassin, Acadie, having had two sons:

Claude Bourgeois Sr. was born about 1674 at Beaubassin, Acadie, New France. He married Anne-Marie Blanchard about 1703 at Beaubassin. He died after 1732 in Nova Scotia, having had eight sons:

Paul Bourgeois Sr. was born about 1705 at Beaubassin, Acadie, New France. He married Marie-Josèphe Brun on 17 November 1727 at Beaubassin, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died about 1757 at Malpèque, Prince Edward Island, Canada, having had five sons:
