George Burgess was born about 1740 in England. He married Nancy Hodgkinson about 1770. He died about 1800 at Great Budsworth, Cheshire Co., England, having had four sons:

Thomas Burgess Sr. was born 2 March 1786 at Davenham, Cheshire Co., England. He married Elizabeth Worrall on 29 July 1811 at Middlewich, Cheshire Co., England. He is listed in the 1841 census for Davenham, Cheshire Co., and in 1851 for Sutton, Cheshire Co., England. He died in Cheshire Co. in October 1859, having had children:

Third Child of Thomas

Anne Burgess was born before 4 March 1819 at Wharton or Davenham, Cheshire Co., England. She apparently never married, but together with her sister, Elizabeth Burgess, had several natural children noted in the parish registers; these are listed as grandchildren with their grandparents in the 1841 census. Anne’s son was:

1. Thomas Burgess III (1837-1914) of Allegheny Co., PA

Thomas Burgess III is the ancestor of E. R. Burgess.

Test results received from one representative in this line do not currently match the numbers of any other Burgess Project family. Several matches to Pickett family.
